Two Arrests Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident resulted in the partial closure of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

Two more people are now in custody related to a theft at Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.

A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, authorities confirmed.

These detentions follow an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was among the injured during the incident. Five people went to hospital for medical care and were later discharged.

Police detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of robbery and assault near the scene. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Police were alerted at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding a number of individuals hurt by a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray.

The assault - an event that police said was isolated and not considered an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a short time.
